Workshops will help students do the following: Students will understand the process of developing an action project or campaign that includes assessment, issue identification, and goal setting. Students will understand why assessing the conditions, needs, and wants of their constituency is important as well as some examples of how to do these assessments. Also, workshop participants will practice leading and participating in surveys, focus groups, town halls, and one on one’s as well as brainstorm strengths and limitations of each method. Students will explore basics of organizing and advocacy principles and create an example of a strategy. They will become familiar with analyzing and identifying things that need to change in their schools & community. Students will build a 3-D power analysis map to identify level of support and opposition for their campaign. They will also identify areas of research, and relationship building.
